It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to The 9th Pan Arab Federation of Societies of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Management Congress and The 7th UAE International Conference on Anaesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Medicine, which was meant to take place in Khartoum in Sudan in 2008 but has been moved to Sharjah the United Arab Emirates and will be held at the Campus of The University of Sharjah from 31st January till 2nd February 2009 and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah & Member of the Supreme Council.

This conference is organized by the Society of Anaesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Medicine of the Emirates Medical Association in collaboration with The Pan Arab Federation of Societies of Anesthesia Intensive Care and Pain Management.

With such a valuable scientific program that features several topics on Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine which will highlight the important and relevant issues covering the different subspecialties of anaesthesia, I can not but extend my gratitude to the numerous renowned and eminent speakers who have accepted our invitation and have given us the benefit of their knowledge.

In addition to the extensive scientific program in English of this Congress, a fully fledged scientific program in French will be presented in a dedicated hall.
